The team at ACES-Energy has started their installation of a geothermal heating and cooling system at their 7288 Rush Lima Road, Honeoye Falls, NY location. The showroom and shop is sitting on a layer of rock and only had about ten inches of top soil around the building. That left us no other answer than to drill a vertical closed loop system. We successfully drilled two bores at 300' deep. Also, in each hole, we installed pipe to monitor ground temperature and performance at different depths in addition to installing a heat dump for our future solar hot water system. We will post photos and videos to our blog as we continue the progress. Add Comment Welcome to newest ACE-Energy employee in training, Jack James (J.J.) Heiligman. Jack was born February 26th, 2013 at 11:14am. He weighed an impressive 8 pounds, 10 ounces. Walk around the block at 7 weeks Jack's first lacrosse game watching Dad's college (Clarkson University) team play in the Liberty League finals against RIT. Jack's first visit to Lowe's at 4 weeks old! Published today in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle below.... As energy costs continue to rise, now is time to think about solar one more time. Over the past several weeks, many of our customers said they looked into solar PV in the past, and it was a 12-15 year return on investment in the Rochester and Finger Lake area of Upstate, NY. With rising energy costs, lower installation costs and longer warranties on products, we have seen roof mounted paybacks as low as four to six years. The company operating the plant had planned to shut it down in January, but an agreement with NYSEG and regulators will keep it running for another year. A residential customer using 600 kilowatt-hours will pay $1.11 more each month. A small nonresidential customer with 50 kilowatts of demand that used 12,600 kilowatt-hours will pay $29 more. Large nonresidential customers with 2,000 kilowatts of demand and using 720,000 kilowatt-hours will pay $1,680 more." After 6 months of engineering, planning and site work, ACES-Energy and The AquaSource Group successfully installed an off-grid solar electric powered well pumping system. Our customer, who also had a geothermal heating and cooling system installed three years ago, dug a large pond on his wildlife preserve for both his love of animals and for fire protection. Initially, he contacted us to installed a temporary generator to run a well-pump to fill his pond. Not only were the costs high, it involved maintenance and someone to constantly re-fuel the generator. Steve Richards of The AquaSource Group and AJ Heiligman of ACES-Energy put their minds together and designed a system to fill this pond utilizing the earth's natural resources. Steve & AJ worked hand and hand with Franklin Electric to test a prototype off-grid submersible pump, one of the first in the North East. We went through several design iterations, matching the pump motor and controls to the well depth and flow rate to an optimized solar array.
