NYSERDA Incentives
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) was established by 1975 law as a public benefit corporation. NYSERDA funds research into energy supply and efficiency, as well as energy-related environmental issues, important to the well-being of New Yorkers.
By 2013, twenty-five percent of all power used in New York is to come from renewable resources via the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS). Renewable resources include solar, wind, biomass, and some hydroelectricity. In order to achieve the RPS “25 by 2013” goal, NYSERDA offers grants and incentives to help bring down the costs of these clean resources
NYSERDA offers additional incentives to the Federal and State tax credits to reduce a customer’s initial investment. Programs and funding is continuously being released and updated. Currently, there are two residential programs for Solar PV and Wind installations.
NYSERDA offers a $1.75 per watt of installed Solar Photovoltaic panels. There is a limit of reimbursement at 5,000 watts. In addition, if you install system qualifying as building integrated (panels provide a roof or shading for the home) you may be eligible for an additional $0.50 per watt.
NYSERDA also offers very attractive incentives for wind turbine installations. These programs differ by many variables. Please contact an A.C.E.S representative for a complete overview.
