NYSERDA Solar Incentives
NYSERDA (New York State Energy and Research Development Authority) offers an incentive of $0.35 per kWh for those who install systems in their homes. This money is paid directly to the installer meaning it comes "right off the top" - you will not have to pay this money and then apply for a credit after the fact. It is shown as a direct subtraction on your Solar System installation contract!
Solar Federal Tax Credit (ITC)
The federal government offers a tax credit that one can apply for after the installation of their solar system. This tax credit is 30 percent of the cost of alternative energy equipment installed on or in your home. Qualified equipment includes solar hot water heaters, and solar electric equipment. Solar electric equipment must be placed in to service by Dec. 31, 2021.
